CiTianSi offers the bathing of the Buddha as a symbolic ritual for devotees to performed during Vesak (Buddha Day) to commemorate the birth of Siddhartha Gautama.
Its primary purpose is internal purification: just as fragrant water cleanses the statue, the act reminds practitioners to wash away inner defilements like greed, anger, and ignorance to uncover their pure, true nature.
During this Vesak Day 2026, CiTianSi have prepared the list of items for devotees to purchase & offer during Vesak Day 2026.
-Flowers: Devotees lay fresh flowers before statues of the Buddha. As the flowers eventually wither and fade, they serve as a powerful visual reminder of impermanence (Anicca)—the Buddhist teaching that all things in life are temporary.
-Candles and Oil Lamps: Lighting candles or filling oil lamps symbolizes the light of wisdom and enlightenment. It represents the Buddha’s teachings driving away the darkness of ignorance and delusion.
- Incense: Burning incense sticks creates a pleasant fragrance that fills the air. This represents the fragrance of pure virtue and good moral character spreading throughout the world.
- Water and Fruits: Fresh water symbolizes purity, clarity, and calmness of the mind. Fruits represent the fruits of spiritual practice and the ultimate goal of achieving enlightenment.
